Silk is my favourite fibre for spinning, at least at the moment

I love it for its stories; the princess who discovered how to reel it, the Chinese keeping the secret hidden for centuries, the pernickety mulberry silk worms that refuse to eat unless chopped leaves are presented just as they like it and the wild tussah worms that eat oak leaves whose tannin give their silk a glorious honey colour.

I also love silk because it produces a strong yarn, it can be spun fine and lustrous, or textured, fat, fluffy.
