A fun day learning about silk, suitable for spinners who have mastered the basics

Silk
We will prepare and spin – a variety of silks from smooth tops to textured throwster’s waste, the long fibres of silk hankies and the super short silk noil; finishing with brightly coloured recycled sari silk.
You will have a chance to degum cocoons and make ‘hankies’,
By the end of the day you will
- have spun silk fine and thick, smooth and textured
- tried a number of silk preparations
- made a silk ‘hankie’
- had the opportunity to buy more supplies
