This course is about learning about leather itself and how to work with it to create beautiful items. It is not a make a bag in a day course.

We will look at

  • The different types of leather and what they can be used for,
  • How to make patterns for sheaths, bags etc.
  • What tools you need and how they’re used,
  • Applying dyes and finishes,
  • Sewing,
  • Different types of fittings and how they’re used,
  • Edge finishing,
  • Tooling and stamping.

Course timing

Review from previous course

“I was one of the fortunate few to be on the first course. It is very much “an introduction”. It covers the basics of selecting leathers, making patterns/templates, cutting, stitching, dyeing, finishing,.
You do not come away with a finished item, but with a host of knowledge of techniques. I think it is much better than a “make a handbag in a weekend” type course.”
